Following on from the meeting that we had with Bryan Green last Wednesday (13 November 2013) today (15 November 2013) we met with Rod Andrewartha, Mary Bennett and Fiona de Jersey from DPIWE to further discuss our concerns with the Proposed Animal Welfare Standards for Dogs.
One point that members should bear in mind when making a submission on the above mentioned matter is to include a rationale for any changes you are suggesting.
Mary Bennett has agreed to provide an article that we will publish in the December 2013/January 2014 issue of the Gazette addressing many of the misconceptions that are out there relating to the DPIWE paper; we will also post them on the TCA Inc website and on Facebook.
The meeting today was very constructive and we are hopeful of a positive outcome, after some our concerns being noted. It was apparent that the officers involved recognised where we were coming from and agreed to take into account the matters we have raised. They acknowledged there were some issues that they had not fully appreciated and we are hopeful that these issues will be included in the amended recommendations to the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee.
Another meeting will be scheduled in the near future.
